About Jim Courtney

Jim Courtney is a sales, marketing and business development executive with over 30 years' experience covering the instrumentation, PC hardware, software and Internet business domains.

Mr. Courtney's career has centered around building high technology sales teams, both internal and external via strategic agent and reseller partner networks. He served as a founding executive and Canadian General Manager for several Canadian high technology subsidiaries, including most recently AST Canada and Quarterdeck Canada. From 1994 to 1996 he was as a member of the senior executive team of Quarterdeck Corporation in Santa Monica, CA. He was Director of North American Sales during a successful restructuring of Quarterdeck's software utilities business, which returned to profitability in the first quarter following restructuring. Later as Director of Internet Business Development, Courtney negotiated contracts with national Internet Service Providers such as AT&T WorldNet, Netcom, and UUNET (now MCI WorldCom).

In 1996 Mr. Courtney returned to Canada as a consultant in Business Development and Business Plans for entrepreneurial startups. These startups deployed Internet technology in areas as diverse as radiology practice management systems to location-based Internet marketing infrastructure services.

Mr. Courtney holds a B.A.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Toronto; he is a graduate of the Canada's first Executive MBA class.
